Nobunaga Sensei no Osanazuma Manga Gets TV Anime

Publisher Futabasha announced on Tuesday that Azure Konno‘s Nobunaga Sensei no Osanazuma (Mr. Nobunaga’s Young Bride) manga will get a television anime adaptation that will premiere next April.

The romantic comedy manga’s story centers on Nobunaga, a middle school teacher who constantly dreams of a beautiful girl who loves him appearing in front of him. One day, the 14-year-old Kichō, the wife of the real-life Warring States period warlord Oda Nobunaga, does appear in front of him, having apparently traveled through time. She mistakes the present-day Nobunaga for the historical Oda Nobunaga, and tries to get him to get her pregnant.

The cast includes (Note: Names of historical Japanese characters are written with last name first.):

Kōdai Sakai as Nobunaga Oda, a teacher who loves gal games. He dreams of a harlem surrounded by lots of girls, just like in games. Howver, he has never been able to get a girlfriend, so those dreams of a harlem and more are still just dreams. Because he is a descendant of the historical Oda Nobunaga with a similar-sounding name (written with different kanji characters), his students call him “Mr. Noubnaga.”

Akari Uehara as Saitō Kichō, a 14-year-old girl who came from the Sengoku (Warring States) era. She should have been betrothed to Oda Nobunaga in a political marriage, but she time-traveled to the present day.

Ari Ozawa as Ikoma Kitsuno, Oda Nobunaga’s concubine who was transported from the Warring States era to the present day. She lost her life at the age of 29, but was transported in a younger form.

Noriyoshi Sasaki (Ojisan to MarshmallowMy Wife is the Student Council President+!King’s Game The Animation) is directing the anime at SevenArikura Arika (Shūdengo, Capsule Hotel de, Jōshi ni Binetsu Tsutawaru Yoru.) is in charge of series composition. Takashi Nishikawa(animation director on Strange+Holmes of Kyoto) is designing the characters.

Konno launched the manga in Futabasha‘s Monthly Action magazine in May 2017. Futabasha will publish the manga’s third compiled book volume on Wednesday.
